Mr. Willie H. (Peter Berry) Crowder, was born in Nashville (Davidson County), Tennessee on November 5, 1945, a son of Sallie L. Berry and William H. Crowder. He departed this life on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at South Georgia Medical Center, Valdosta, Georgia.

He was a graduate of Haynes High School, Class of 1964. In August of 1964, he enlisted in the United States Navy to pursue his childhood dream.

Mr. Crowder attained the highest enlisted ranking, that of E9, Master Chief Petty Officer (BMCM SW).

Pete completed twenty seven years of honorable military service. He received various medals and citations throughout his illustrious military career. His last duty assignment was that of Command Master Chief (CMC), Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Commanding Officer of the AEG's Cruiser, The USS Mobile Bay CG-53, home ported in Mayport, Florida.

Pete loved fishing and was an avid golfer. He also loved taking care of his family and spoiling his grandchildren. He will be truly missed.

He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memories: a daughter, Stacey C. (Mario) Gethers and two grandchildren, Mario A. Gethers, Jr. and Rebecca A. Gethers all of Moncks Corner, SC; two brothers, George A. (Mike) Berry and Freddie S. (Freddie Boy) Berry both of Nashville, TN; two sisters, Flora L. (Big Sister) Berry and Lucy E. (Missy) Johnson both of Nashville, TN; very close friend, La Rue Miller of Jacksonville, FL; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends of all branches of the armed services, Navy, Marines, Army, Air Force and Coast Guard.
